About Family Promise of Southern Worcester County

“He had a GREAT first day at school.  You don’t understand, he NEVER wants to go to school and now he loves it!” — Carlos Baez to SIHN staff when his son came home from his first day at Mary Wells Middle School.  His son had met one of our volunteers, David Williams from Holy Trinity Church in Southbridge, who is a teacher at Wells when he volunteered at Grace House. Mr. Williams was able to connect with the child during the first week of school, easing the transition in a new community.

Home imageFamily Promise of Southern Worcester County began as a concept in 2000. Community members and local clergy envisioned a place where families in transition would be cared for as they work towards permanent housing. They wanted those families to be able to stay close to their children’s schools and their family support network.  In 2001, FPSWC began providing families shelter at local churches. With the purchase of Grace House in 2006, FPSWC now provides a stable place for families to stay while receiving support and integrating to self-sufficiency.

Our Mission

The Family Promise of Southern Worcester County (FPSWC) mission is to prevent family homelessness, provide shelter during transition, and offer ongoing support to foster self-sufficiency.
