About Grace House
“We love it here! We feel so at home. Thank you so much.” — Charlotte Ward, Parent staying at Grace Housechild during the first week of school, easing the transition in a new community.
In 2006, Family Promise of Southern Worcester County purchased and rehabilitated the home now called Grace House. Located in Southbridge, MA yet supported by over 20 local church congregations and community organizations, Grace House provides a safe and secure place for families to transition into permanent housing.
How can you help?
There are many ways to help at Grace House. Evenings and weekends at Grace House, volunteers come to spend time, offer support and encouragement and are there in case of emergency. Would you like more information?

Overnights:Our overnight volunteers come one time each month to stay at Grace House. They have their own room, arrive at 8pm and are finished at 7 am the next morning. Volunteers are scheduled the same day of each month, for example the 3rd Tuesday of each month so they know when they are scheduled to help. Sometimes they sit up with guests sharing a cup of tea and offer encouragement and a listening ear while the babies are asleep, and sometimes they are simply there in case of emergency. One of our former guests once reported, “I feel so safe with the volunteers here. My kids and I knew if anything happened they would be there to help.”
Weekend Volunteers: Our weekend volunteers take a few hours each month to spend time with the parents and children at Grace House. A typical shift could be one Saturday each month from 1pm to 4pm. The volunteers could arrive to a house full of playful children or it could be only a small family ready to enjoy an afternoon playing the back yard. Every kid loves when a new volunteer arrives, they know it means someone new to color with or who will read them a story. Volunteers are there in case of emergency and to offer encouragement and support.
Small groups of volunteers: Are you a member of a community group? Do you have a youth ministry or Girl Scout Troop looking for a project? Email us so we can brainstorm what might be most helpful. Maybe it is Spring Cleaning, or taking a rake to our yard. Do you have a green thumb? Maybe you’d like to help with a garden this spring?
